Terms of Service

SIGNAL is an informational and entertainment tool powered by artificial intelligence. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, therapeutic, or legal advice, and its outputs are not clinical assessments. If you are in danger, please contact emergency services or a crisis line immediately.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using SIGNAL (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide at least 14 days' notice (via email for registered users, or a prominent notice on the Service). Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Nature of the service — AI transparency

SIGNAL uses artificial intelligence (OpenAI GPT-4o mini large language model) to analyse text conversations for communication patterns associated with manipulation and unhealthy dynamics. In accordance with the EU AI Act (Art. 50), we disclose that:

  • All results — including toxicity scores, pattern names, health summaries, and recommendations — are generated entirely by AI with no human review of individual reports
  • AI outputs are probabilistic and may contain errors, biases, or misinterpretations
  • Results are for informational and entertainment purposes only
  • Results are not a clinical diagnosis, psychological assessment, or medical opinion
  • Results are not legal advice or evidence admissible in any legal proceeding
  • Results are not a substitute for therapy, counselling, or professional mental health support
  • A low score does not mean a relationship is safe. A high score does not constitute a diagnosis of abuse. SIGNAL cannot determine whether a relationship is safe or unsafe.

If you are concerned about your safety or that of someone you know, please contact a qualified professional or crisis service. SIGNAL cannot and does not replace human judgement.

3. Crisis resources

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, please reach out for help:

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the free features of the Service. You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to purchase any paid plan or subscription.

By using SIGNAL, you represent that you meet the applicable age requirement. Users aged 13–17 may only use free features. We strongly encourage minors to discuss relationship concerns with a trusted adult or counsellor.

5. Conversation content and third-party data

When you submit a conversation for analysis, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are a participant in the conversation you are submitting, or you have obtained the explicit consent of all parties whose messages appear in it;
  • Submitting the conversation does not violate any applicable privacy law, wiretapping law, or confidentiality obligation in your jurisdiction;
  • You understand that the conversation text is transmitted to OpenAI's API for AI processing and discarded immediately after analysis (see our Privacy Policy);
  • You accept sole responsibility for ensuring you have the legal right to submit the content.

Important legal notice: Recording or monitoring another person's private communications without their consent may be illegal in your jurisdiction (including under US federal and state wiretapping laws and EU Member State implementations of the ePrivacy Directive). SIGNAL does not provide legal advice on this matter. Consult a legal professional if you are unsure of your rights.

6. User conduct

You agree not to:

  • Submit content that is fraudulent, illegal, or violates the privacy or rights of others
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate requests to the Service
  • Use the Service to harass, stalk, intimidate, or harm any individual
  • Circumvent payment mechanisms or attempt to access paid features without payment
  • Share your report or account access in a way that constitutes commercial resale
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or content intended to disrupt the Service
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Use AI-generated analysis results in any legal proceeding or as evidence of abuse

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access without refund.

7. Payments, subscriptions, and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. By completing a payment, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service in addition to these Terms.

Automatic renewal disclosure (California Business & Professions Code §17602):

  • Weekly plan — $6.99 USD charged every 7 days, automatically renewing until cancelled (equivalent to approximately $363.48/year).
  • Monthly plan — $14.99 USD charged every 30 days, automatically renewing until cancelled (equivalent to $179.88/year).
  • One-time report — $9.99 USD single charge, no recurring billing.
  • Cancel at any time via the Stripe Customer Portal (accessible from your account settings) or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Price changes: We may change subscription prices at any time. We will give you at least 14 days' written notice before any price change affecting your active subscription. If you do not cancel before the change takes effect, you consent to the new price.

Post-purchase confirmation: After subscribing, you will receive a confirmation email summarising the renewal terms, price, billing frequency, and cancellation instructions. This email serves as your required durable medium confirmation under California ARL and EU law.

Refunds: Due to the digital nature of the product, all sales are final once a report has been accessed. If you experienced a technical failure that prevented you from viewing your report, contact us within 7 days at [email protected] for a review.

EU/EEA consumers — right of withdrawal: Pursuant to EU Directive 2011/83/EU, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a digital content purchase within 14 days of payment, unless you have expressly requested immediate delivery and acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. At checkout, you will be asked to confirm this in a separate, unticked checkbox before payment is processed.

8. Referral program

The referral program allows you to unlock your report at no cost by inviting 3 friends to independently complete a conversation analysis using your referral link.

Attempting to manipulate the referral system — including through fake accounts, bots, self-referral schemes, or other artificial means — will result in immediate disqualification of referral credits and may result in account suspension. We reserve the right to modify or terminate the referral program at any time.

9. Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if:

  • You breach any provision of these Terms
  • We reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, or illegal activity
  • Required by applicable law or a court order
  • Continued access poses a risk to other users or the integrity of the Service

You may request account deletion at any time by contacting [email protected]. Active subscription payments are non-refundable upon termination for cause.

10. Intellectual property

All content, design, branding, and software associated with SIGNAL are the property of Audexum and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of any part of the Service without prior written permission.

By submitting a conversation to SIGNAL, you represent that you own or have the right to submit that content, and you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process it solely for the purpose of generating your AI analysis. This licence terminates when the conversation text is discarded after analysis.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY OF AI-GENERATED RESULTS, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee that the AI analysis will correctly identify all communication patterns, that it will be free from errors, or that results will be accurate for your specific situation. AI systems can and do make mistakes. Results should not be used as the sole basis for any decision about your relationships or safety.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, AUDEXUM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, DECISIONS MADE IN RELIANCE ON THE ANALYSIS, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF PROFITS.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 90 DAYS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) €50 / $50 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for consequential damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

13. Force majeure

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, civil unrest, government actions, internet or infrastructure outages, or failures of third-party services (including OpenAI or Stripe).

14. Accessibility

We are committed to making SIGNAL accessible to all users, including those with disabilities, in accordance with the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882) and applicable accessibility standards. If you experience accessibility barriers when using our Service, please contact us at [email protected] and we will work to address the issue promptly.

15. Third-party links and services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (including crisis resources, Google, and Stripe). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those third-party services. Links do not constitute an endorsement.

16. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria and, where applicable, the laws of the European Union, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the matter informally within 30 days.

If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Bulgaria. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.

Nothing in this section limits any mandatory rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

17. Severability, entire agreement, and waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Audexum regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements or understandings.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
